Netflix, a generally acclaimed streaming service which has provided users with incredible programming from companies such as Marvel and other original television. Well, now, the company has acquired Millarworld, a comic publishing firm founded by Mark Millar.
This deal allows Netflix to create new and original programming from properties such as Jupiter’s Circle , Huck, Nemesis, Starlight, Superior and many others. However, the two most well-known properties that have been attached to Millarworld, Kick-Ass and Kingsman, are not a part of the deal for obvious reasons.The press release for the deal features Ted Sarandos who “can’t wait to harness the creative power of Millarworld to Netflix and start a new era in global storytelling.”
Even Mark Millar is excited about this storytelling prospect, “This is only the third time in history a major comic book company has been purchased at this level. I’m so in love with what Netflix is doing and excited by their plans. Netflix is the future and Millarworld couldn’t have a better home.”
