NBC hasn’t really been synonymous with supernatural thrillers, however, the network is taking more risks lately so it’s changing that perception in a drastic way.

As part of its Summer lineup NBC will air Midnight, Texas, a supernatural drama based on the books by Charlaine Harris, author of the very popular True Blood series.

Just like True Blood there are vampires, witches, psychics, angels and an army of demons. It looks scary, emotional and romantic all at the same time. And yes there’s sex.

TV Line released a detailed synopsis featuring the star-studded cast of TV favorites portraying the various characters that inhabit Midnight.

The NBC drama follows Manfred (The Borgias’ François Arnaud), a psychic capable of communicating with the dead. After relocating to the titular Texas town, he finds himself surrounded by both human and supernatural allies. Among its inhabitants: a witch (Luke Cage’s Parisa Fitz-Henley), an angel (Sex and the City’s Jason Lewis), a mysterious assassin (The Vampire Diaries’ Arielle Kebbel), a local pawn shop owner (Orphan Black‘s Dylan Bruce) and a reverend (Captain Phillips’ Yul Vazquez), who may or may not be a werewolf. There’s also Creek (Parenthood‘s Sarah Ramos), an aspiring writer with whom Manfred is clearly smitten.

Midnight, Texas is scheduled to premiere Tuesday, July 25 at 10 pm on NBC.
