Variety reports that Kingsman: The Golden Circle is off to a promising start, earning up to $3.4 Million Thursday evening domestically, and will estimate up to $40 million by the end of the weekend.

These numbers are coming from about 4,000 North American theaters. Internationally, the film’s Thursday release garnered about $12.7 million.

According to Variety, Matthew Vaughn’s follow-up “debuted domestically with a $36.2 million opening weekend and went on to gross $128.2 million Stateside and $414 million worldwide.”

While the box office numbers show promise, critics have come with mixed reviews. While the original film came with 74% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” has only come in with a 51% rating.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle stars Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong. The film introduces newcomers from the likes of recruits Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Halle Berry, and Elton John.
