In order to promote the DVD and Blu-Ray release of his social-thriller Get Out (a critical and commercial success), Jordan Peele made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and he did not disappoint.
As inevitable as it is for anything these days, the viral success of the movie spawned countless memes online. The bizarre scene in question is when a character charges towards the camera at blistering speed until he gets uncomfortably close to the camera then suddenly takes a sharp right turn and continues running. The real life #GetOutChallenge sees fans trying to replicate the scene, with hilarious results.

Jordan Peele doesn’t reveal the alternate ending with his appearance on The Tonight Show. However, he does mention that it is “pretty messed up” and “challenging” whilst assuring that “you’ll know why we didn’t use it”. However, on BuzzFeed’s Another Round podcast, Peele was asked about the alternate ending and this is what he had to say:
“It was very clear that the ending needed to transform into something that gives us a hero, that gives us an escape, gives us a positive feeling when we leave this movie. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing the audience go crazy when Rod shows up.”

In the alternate ending, instead of Rod showing up and saving Chris, we see the Police arresting Chris for the murder of Rose and her family, a much more chilling idea than the one Peele ultimately decided to go with. Given the racial tensions of our current political climate, I think it was wise and hopeful to end the movie the way that he did.
