Guillermo Del Toro is having an amazing year with his latest film, The Shape of Water which was recently nominated for multiple Golden Globe awards. But there is much more excitement underway for the director.

One of Del Toro’s upcoming projects will be a remake of the 1947 film, Nightmare Alley. According to Variety, Del Toro will co-write the script with Kim Morgan. The original film focused on an ambitious con man played by Tyrone Power who hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is more corrupt than he is and she soon turns the tables on him.

Currently, Del Toro is still working on the script, so it is unknown how closely the remake will follow the story of the original. The director is also taking a brief hiatus, with his next film most likely being his Fantastic Voyage remake.
