Created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, Superman changed the world of pop culture when he debuted in DC’s iconic comic book Action Comics #1 on April 18, 1938. Since his debut, Superman has stood as an international symbol of hope, strength, and kindness to inspire people across generations throughout film, TV, animation, comics, and more.
On April 18, fans around the world to come together and celebrate Superman by wearing the iconic S-Shield symbol and share their stories about Superman. When fans don the S-Shield, representing strength, heroism and hope, it can ignite the hero within and remind them that Superman stands for the best qualities of humanity.

If you’re a comic book reader, participating booksellers and comic book shops will have free Superman Day special editions up for grabs.



These comics include, All Star Superman #1 Special Edition by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, an excerpt of the upcoming young adult graphic novel Jimmy Olsen’s SuperCyclopedia by Gabe Soria and Sandy Jarrell, and Superman For All Seasons Book One Special Edition by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale.
