Marvel has found a new screenwriter for the upcoming Captain Marvel. Geneva Robertson-Dworet is set to take over the script for the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduction of Carol Danvers.

Original screenwriters Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman had to step down when LeFauve got the directing gig on Disney Animation’s Gigantic.

Robertson-Dworet is an interesting choice, as her credits include the new Tomb Raider and Gotham City Sirens. So, she clearly has experience writing strong, independent women.

Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, and stars Academy Award winner Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. Rumor has it, the film will take place in the 90s, feature the Skrulls and Nick Fury without an eye patch.

There’s been whispers that Carol Danvers may show up in the MCU before Captain Marvel, but frankly no one besides Kevin Feige really ever knows what’s happening in the future of the MCU.

Captain Marvel is currently scheduled for release March 8, 2019.
