As Hollywood diversifies the meaning of Hollywood franchises, Marvel Studios is no longer the only entity creating their own cinematic universe. Warner Bros. and DC Comics are building their own superhero universe with the Justice League property, The Dark Universe is set to build a cinematic world around classic monsters and even M. Night Shymalan is creating his own small cinematic universe with his horror films. Joining the growing list of the film-verse trend comes in the form of the King Kong and Godzilla franchise headed by Legendary Entertainment.

In 2014, Godzilla debuted in theaters starring Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen and many others. More recently Kong: Skull Island was released into theaters and received moderately positive reviews. The next film on Legendary Entertainment’s schedule will be Godzilla: King of the Monsters which will be the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla. With production slated to begin soon, the cast for the movie continues to expand by the day. Newly added to the cast is Golden Globe nominated actor Bradley Whitford.

Whitford joins a star studded cast that includes Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Aisha Hinds, O’shea Jackson Jr and many more. What do you think of his casting? Are you excited to see this film? Let us know in the comments below.
