The updated Power Rangers team featured more modern and well-rounded characters. One of the most significant was Yellow Ranger Trini, played by Becky G.
In the film it is revealed that Trini is gay. Her teammates don’t make a big deal out of it, and there’s not time to delve deeper into her character, but Becky G would like to see that change in any possible sequels.
“The truth is with something like that, you don’t just wake up and know. It’s a process,” the actress told The Mary Sue. “And so, as time goes by, if we make Power Rangers 2, 3, 4 … I’m excited to see how she grows.”

Though there’s been no official sequel announcement yet, the film was well received by fans and has made $135 million worldwide so far.
Power Rangers stars RJ Cyler as Billy/Blue Ranger, Becky G as Trini/Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack/Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly/Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as Jason/Red Ranger, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa and Bryan Cranston as Zordon. The film is available on Blu-Ray and DVD June 27.
