There’s no stopping Ayo Edebiri.

It’s been announced that the acclaimed actress will now lead Prodigies, a television romantic comedy Apple TV+ is producing. The project will be written and directed by Will Sharpe. The actor made a statement when he was seen alongside Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg in A Real Pain. The narrative that was nominated for several Academy Awards followed a pair of cousins who tried to reconnect with their roots, with Sharpe portraying their tour guide. A release window for the series hasn’t been set by the streaming platform.

Ever since Edebiri rose to prominence thanks to her role as Sydney in The Bear, the actress has selected a wide variety of projects to construct the next step of her career. Edebiri was recently heard as the voice of Envy in Inside Out 2. The animated sequel went on to gross more than $1 billion at the global box office. The performer was also heard as the voice of Harriet Tubman in Clone High and as April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Ayo Edebiri has displayed plenty of charisma through every role she has taken on. A romantic comedy will allow her to lean into a friendlier tone than what has been seen on The Bear.

Prodigies will follow Didi (Ayo Edebiri) and Ren (Will Sharpe). The couple has been together since they were children, with their adult versions going through a crisis. As the title of the series suggests, Ren and Didi’s future was filled with dreams and potential. When they find themselves bored with their ordinary routines, they will also begin to question the purpose of their relationship. When Prodigies premieres on Apple TV+, audiences will be able to find out if the protagonists will breathe new life into their bond, or if they’re doomed to follow separate paths.
