Moonlight breakout star Ashton Sanders continues to build off the success of the Oscar-winning movie with a lead role in The Equalizer 2.
Denzel Washington returns as Robert McCall, who will be a father figure for Sanders’ character.
Nothing more is known about the plot, but chances are it will feature McCall fighting a villain using unorthodox methods and expert skills.
Sanders joins the returning Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman, along with new villain Pedro Pascal. Antoine Fuqua also returns to direct.
2014’s The Equalizer made $192 million worldwide and was a surprise fall hit.
The movies are based on the 80s TV show which follows former spy Robert McCall, played by Edward Woodward, as he uses his training to help people in tough situations. It ran on CBS for four seasons.
The Equalizer 2 is scheduled to hit theaters September 14, 2018.
