Every 19 seconds a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, songstress, Alicia Keys is teaming with Stella McCartney for the fashion designer’s annual campaign that highlights breast cancer awareness.

McCartney, who lost her mother to breast cancer, will donate a percentage of the proceeds from her Ophelia Whistling lingerie set to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Breast Examination Center in Harlem and the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool.

The lingerie set has been made in Poppy Pink as a reminder to stay healthy and get your breasts checked regularly.

The campaign celebrates pride in being a woman and champions the independent voice of women. We above all want to highlight in this year’s campaign the inequalities in accessing early detection programs.

According to statistics there is a 42% higher chance of breast cancer mortality in African American women in the US, and this time around our campaign will support Memorial Sloan Kettering Breast Examination Center of Harlem (BECH) which offers free quality care to its local community.

Alicia Keys was born and raised in Harlem and shares our strong belief in promoting early breast cancer detection and breaking any taboos surrounding it.

The disease hits close to home for both women and the two philanthropists discussed the campaign and and its importance in the video below:
