Airbnb has allowed people from all over the world to find an alternative to a traditional hotel for years. After giving customers the opportunity to try something different, the company is ready to take the next step and take hospitality to the future.

Airbnb revealed their new services, experiences and app design during a press summit that took place this week in Los Angeles, California. These additions will be available for purchase in more than 260 cities from all over the world, giving users the chance to enhance their stay with entertainment and personal care beyond their imagination.

Services are the additions any customer can acquire in order to make their stay unforgettable. Some of the options that will be arriving on the company’s app include chefs, photography and massages. Highly-trained professionals will offer meals, photo sessions, and more, thanks to the innovative offer. Other services include spa treatment, personal training, hair, makeup and nails. Customers who trust Airbnb to take care of the during their stay will find that only qualified staff will work on the various service offerings. The objective of these enhancements is to provide the users with a direct interaction that adapts to their needs.

Airbnb Originals will be a feature that allows people to dive deep into the world of their favorite celebrities. The best part about Originals is that users won’t even have to travel to make their dreams come true. Customers will have the opportunity to book an Airbnb Original in the comfort of their own city. Some of the Originals that were announced during this week’s press summit include transforming into an anime alter-ego with Megan Thee Stallion in her Otaku Hottie Quest, stepping inside the Short n’ Sweet set with Sabrina Carpenter for a day of glam, dancing, and espresso, and spending a Sunday with Patrick Mahomes, learning how to throw the perfect spiral and enjoying Kansas City barbecue.

The Airbnb app has been reinvented thanks to the launch of Services, Experiences and Originals. The new tabs will change once a user has booked a reservation when they’re ready to travel. Once a destination has been selected, the app will recommend an ever-changing roster of Services, Experiences and Originals. Airbnb made it very clear that the ability to book a place to stay was only the start of their mission.

The Explore tab will display all-new homepage to discover homes in popular destinations, experiences that fit your schedule, and services around the world. The Trip tab will provide clients with an advanced travel itinerary with a schedule of their trip, details about their home, and the services and experiences they’ve booked. In addition to these methods to organize a better trip, new calendar and setup features will highlight what’s important to know about any upcoming trip booked through the app. Everything about the new version of the app will be present to compliment Services, Experiences and Originals.

tHE NEXT STEP AFTER ICONS

Every feature mentioned on this article will be available starting on May 13. Airbnb has been working for a long time on the development of Services, Experiences and Originals. The impact of Icons became very evident in the creation of these additions to the booking experience. When the entertainment-related extravaganza was announced, the company announced that they were working on other ways to improve their clients’ vacations. Services, Experiences and Originals is the result of analyzing what worked for Icons and implementing that knowledge on a more intimate product design to match every city it’s implemented in.

A new messaging system will turn Services, Experiences and Originals into something more personal for Airbnb customers. The platform will connect hosts and users thanks to photo and video sharing and integrated payments for customizing services. The reinvented Profile section will give guests the opportunity to share where they have traveled on Airbnb and see the people they have met along the way.

More than a decade after Brian Chesky launched what was supposed to be a mere alternative for booking a place to stay, Airbnb continues to evolve. “Today’s travel activities offer no real connection to the city you’re visiting,” said Chesky. “The most authentic way to explore a city is with the locals who know it best. With Airbnb Experiences, don’t just see a place—experience it.”

Services, Experiences and Originals will be available on the Airbnb app starting on May 13, 2025.
