Interview: Mo Amer And Sarah Shahi Talk ‘Black Adam’, Representation & More

Director Jaume Collet-Serra’s Black Adam has arrived! Dwayne Johnson and his team have been working on the Black Adam movie for a decade, and the film is the first time we’ve seen Black Adam featured in a live-action movie. In the film, he’s challenged by modern-day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).

Rounding out the cast is Mo Amer and Sarah Shahi as Karim and Adrianna, respectively. I had the opportunity to sit down with Amer and Shahi to discuss making the highly anticipated new DC movie.

During the interview, Shahi spoke about the importance of MENA (Middle Eastern/North African) representation as a person of Persian heritage and how she hopes this is not the last time she’s on a set that includes and praises so much diversity.

Aside from acting , Amer is a gifted comedian who even had The Rock open up for him during one of his comedy specials on Netflix. So, Amer shared some of the improvisation he was allowed to do on set and how much of a tight-knit family the cast became during the shooting process.
