‘Ms. Marvel’ Is An Exceptional Introduction To Kamala Khan – Reaction
By Ramya Kumar
The first two episodes of Ms. Marvel provide a promising glimpse into Kamala Khan’s coming-of-age story. Newcomer Iman Vellani already shines in her lead role as Kamala Khan, a character thus far reminiscent of the stars of the early 2000s-era comedic coming of age movies. Vellani’s natural talent shines through as we watch Kamala adjust to the highs and lows of high school and superherodom. The entire cast has natural, effervescent chemistry which, combined with a heartwarming script from Bisha K. Ali and the other writers of the show, compliment Kamala’s story arc perfectly.
As a fan of early Bollywood music and South Asian instrumentals, I am already blown away by the show’s innovative, masterful fusion of South Asian-style strings and vocals with the classic Marvel instrumentals we are all familiar with today. The soundtrack also features many talented South Asian artists, with a few original songs that I cannot wait to stream.
Overall, the first two episodes of Ms. Marvel have exponentially increased my excitement for the rest of the series, one that I already know will earn deserved widespread recognition.
