Everything Coming to HBO Max in August

From blockbuster films to star-studded new originals, here’s everything coming to HBO Max in August!

Max Originals debuting in the month include Selena + Chef, an unscripted 10-episode cooking series starring and executive produced by Selena Gomez, comedy film An American Pickle, starring Seth Rogen as Herschel Greenbaum, a struggling laborer who immigrated to America in 1919 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family.

Also hitting the service is Ravi Patel’s Pursuit of Happiness, a four-part docu-series following Patel’s travels to regions worldwide for cultural explanation and discussion, documentary Class Action Park and the second season finale of the DC Universe fan-favorite, Doom Patrol. Hit films including BatmanBlade Runner: The Final CutElf, Kung Fu PandaOcean’s Eleven, and Wedding Crashers will also join HBO Max.

HBO Originals debuting this August includes the new drama series Lovecraft Country. The documentary premiere of Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn will join the streaming service this month, and to top it off, the season finales of Perry Mason, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, and I May Destroy You will be available to stream on the platform.

Blockbuster films, including Academy Award®-winner for Best Adapted Screenplay Jojo RabbitRichard JewellBirds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and Walk the Line will join the HBO service this month.

  • Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn tells the story of Yusuf Hawkins, a black teenager who was murdered in 1989 by a group of young white men in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Yusuf Hawkins’ death and the official response to it sparked outrage in New York, unleashing a torrent of racial tension and spurring tireless civil rights activism that exposed deep racial prejudices and inequities which continue to plague the country today.
