Warner Bros. Changes Release Dates for Upcoming Films Including ‘The Batman’

With many release dates altering for various film studios over the past few months due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Warner Bros. has announced new release dates for some key films in their line-up.

With Wonder Woman 1984 already being pushed back from June 5, 2020 to Aug. 14, 2020 it seems another member of the DC-based family is getting a new release date. According to Variety, The Batman (which stars Robert Pattinson in the titular role) will have a new release date of Oct. 1, 2021. The original release date for the Matt Reeves directed flick was June 25, 2021.

Not only does The Batman have a new release date, but Shazam! 2 has moved from April 1, 2022 to Nov. 4, 2022 and the The Flash has moved up to June 2, 2022.

Other films on the Warner Bros. slate that have been reshuffled include the prequel film to the critically acclaimed series The Sopranos, The Many Saints of Newark. Its new release date is March 12, 2021 from Sept. 25, 2020. Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic has been changed from Oct. 1, 2021 to Nov. 5, 2021, and the film focused on Richard Williams (father of tennis legends Serena and Venus) King Richard from Nov. 5, 2020 to Nov. 19, 2021.

With many movie theatres around the world still closed due to the pandemic, the changing of release date has come to be expected of many film companies throughout the world as they navigate through this unprecedented time.
