It was announced earlier this week that Cathy Yan, director of Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn, is planning a sequel that revolves around Harley’s relationship with Poison Ivy.
The news was released during an interview Yan did with The Wrap. Poison Ivy has yet to be hinted at in the DCEU, and while it’s not much of a universe anymore, Poison Ivy will make everything that much more exciting.
When asked about elements of the sequel, Yan said, “I would love to see Poison Ivy and I would certainly love to see the relationship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.”

For those of you that don’t know, their relationship is more than platonic. In the Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy comic, the two are lovers with more than enough action on their plates.
It’s still unknown if we’ll see this LGBTQ+ relationship on the big screen, but I say: why not? We’ve only seen DCEU Harley twice, and while she is prone to toxicity in either platonic or romantic relationships, she sure does seem like the type of person who wants to help people who are a little on the bad side of things. Poison Ivy is perfect for this.
