Interview: Andy Muschietti Talks De-aging Technology & Deciding the Final Runtime of ‘IT Chapter Two’

IT Chapter Two hits theaters in two days! As promised our continuous IT Chapter Two coverage continues with another interview; this time with director, Andy Muschietti. Earlier this week, interviews with cast members were posted, including our interview with Jessica Chastain and Jay Ryan, and our chat with Isaiah Mustafa, Andy Bean, Bill Hader and James Ransone.

Since the first movie, the young Losers’ Club has grown up and instead of relying on deleted scenes or unused footage from the first movie, the team used de-aging technology – which is has become a very useful tool in cinema, especially over the last few years. Muschietti talked about working with the technology for the first time, and he how thought it added to the story. We also spoke about how he came to the the final runtime for the film, and the difficulties of deciding what to cut. We end the conversation with him talking about his plans after IT and his much needed break.
