SDCC 2019: Natalie Portman to Reprise Her Role of Jane Foster and Wield Mjölnir
After the briefest of cameos in Avengers: Endgame, Natalie Portman will be back for the fourth film in the Thor franchise as Jane Foster.
In the aptly titled Thor: Love and Thunder, Portman will actually be seen as the female Thor and she will be joined by Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie (the new King of Asgard) and of course, Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

For those unfamiliar with Marvel Comics, Jane Foster (who had been diagnosed with breast cancer) was called telepathically to the hammer after Thor lost his ability to wield it during a fight with Nick Fury. Jane asked Heimdall to transport her to the hammer’s location and Jane was able to pick up and wield Mjölnir.
It will be exciting to see Portman, whose most-recent films include Annhilation, Vox Lux and Lucy in the Sky, wield the hammer and kick butt alongside Thor and Valkyrie. As per Portman’s latest Instagram post, she is excited to be back and promises to get jacked.
Thor: Love and Thunder is slated for a November 5, 2021 release.
