Michael B. Jordan to Produce and Star in ‘The Silver Bear’
Michael B. Jordan is to star and produce in a film titled, The Silver Bear. The film is an adaptation of a novel written by author, screenwriter, and producer Derek Haas who co-wrote 3:10 to Yuma, Wanted, and The Double starring Topher Grace and Richard Gere. The novel explores the story of an anti-hero who becomes the most feared and respected hitman in the criminal underworld” known as Columbus.
The film which could give rise to a franchise with Haas having written a series of novels about the character from the complex origin story, a questionable moral compass and skill set which has him met colorful characters.
Jordan is known for roles in Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther and is currently shooting Just Mercy, a film directed by The Glass Castle director Destin Daniel Cretton.

Written for the screen by Frank Baldwin the project is a collaboration between Outlier Society, Nickel City Pictures and Lionsgate. Vishal Rungta, Mark Fasano and Ankur Rungta are all set to join Jordan as producers. With Derek Hass, Michael Garnett and Tobias Weymer serving as the film’s executive producers.
This will not be Jordan’s first time behind the camera. The actor who formed the production shingle Outlier Society with Alana Mayo as the head of production and development has had an increased presence behind the scenes. As a producer, Jordan has worked on sci-fi drama KIN starring Myles Truitt, Jack Reynor and Zoe Kravitz and the film adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 in which Jordan served as an executive producer and starred alongside Michael Shannon.
