Production Has Begun for Jon Favreau’s ‘The Mandalorian’; Synopsis and Directors Revealed
The first live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, has begun production for Disney’s streaming service.
Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) will helm the first episode, while Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates) will direct the rest of the eight-episode show.
Jon Favreau will pen the script and executive produce along with Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson and Filoni.
Star Wars also released a first look image. Check it out below:
“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
The show is expected to be launch late 2019, perhaps to coincide with the release of Star Wars: Episode 9. Details are scarce, which is not new for Lucasfilms.
Disney and Lucasfilm are developing multiple live-action Star Wars shows.
