Renee Montoya is best known as a Gotham City police detective who once was the masked vigilante, The Question. Montoya is also Batwoman’s main love interest and is one of DC’s prominent canonically LGBTQ+ characters.
Yan and Robbie committed to having a diverse ensemble of women for the DC feature and have thus far followed through. Casting is still taking place for the film central villain, Black Mask, and possibly two other female characters: Lady Shiva and her daughter, Cassandra Cain.
The Birds of Prey feature is slated to be released February 7, 2020.
