John Boyega, better known for his work in the Star Wars and Pacific Rim franchises, has joined A SprigganKeir Burrows’ (Anti Matter) latest film, as an executive producer via his Upper Room Productions banner.

When asked about this project, Boyega had to comment:

“I’m really excited to be joining A Spriggan and the team behind it. In my producing projects, I’m looking for film-maker driven, world-building, cinematic pieces, and have found in Josephine Rose another producer who shares that creative vision and commercial ambition. We’re looking forward to working with Keir Burrows to explore the monsters of real-life through a dark, twisted, fairy-tale world of the Spriggan.”

Currently in the casting process, A Spriggan follows the story of a recently widowed mother who returns to her father’s isolated hotel only to find a sinister folklore presence haunting the land. In the UK folklore, Spriggans were believed to be spirits related to the trolls of Scandinavia, thought to be “grotesquely ugly”, wizened old men with large child-like heads.
