‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Earns $5M on Wednesday, Projects $25M+ for Opening Weekend
Crazy Rich Asians has officially been released in theaters as of August 15, 2018 and it has raked in quite an audience. With Rotten Tomatoes labeling the film as “Certified Fresh,” it is no surprise that the film has already earned $5 million from just the first day.

With $5 million from Wednesday, it seems likely that the movie will set off with $25 million for its five-day debut this weekend. Unfortunately, it seems the projection is a little less that others have predicted for the film. But only time will tell. And while the film does seem like it will do well for its opening weekend, it might have to battle for to completely top the box office charts as The Meg soars up there.
The rom-com is directed by Jon M. Chu based off of Kevin Kwan’s same title novel. The film stars Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, Gemma Chan, and Harry Shum, Jr. to name a few. If you’d like to read our spoiler-free review of the movie, you can find that here.
