Hasan Minhaj’s Weekly Comedy Show ‘Patriot Act’ Coming to Netflix in October
It was announced back in March that comedian Hasan Minhaj would be getting his own weekly comedy show and we finally have a release date for the series.
Minhaj has been working as a correspondent for The Daily Show since 2014 and he was the featured speaker at the 2017 White House Correspondent’s Dinner where he called the intentionally absent President Donald Trump a “liar-in-chief” and reminded the press, “You are his biggest enemy: Journalists. ISIS, normal-length ties and somehow, you’re the bad guys. That’s why you gotta keep your foot on the gas.”
In 2015, Minhaj opened his one-man show, Homecoming King, Off-Broadway. After some reworking and editing, he turned it into his first stand up special of the same name which was released on Netflix on May 23, 2017 (one of our writers Qamar did a write up on the special which you can read here that Hasan himself liked). The special talks about the unique experiences of being a first-generation Indian-American Muslim and it even went on to win a television Peabody Award.
The description of the Patriot Act is that its aim is to “explore the modern cultural and political landscape with depth and sincerity.”
