The mini-series is based on the true story of five teenagers of color from Harlem: Anton McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Saalam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise, who were arrested and convicted of a rape that they did not commit.
The film will center around the five teens and span the entirety of the incident, trial and eventual exoneration and settlement with the city of New York; meaning the mini-series will span decades from 1989 to 2014.
DuVernay is set to write and direct the show, with Nash, Reid and Bunbury joining an already all-star cast that includes John Leguizamo, Michael K. Williams, Aunjunae Ellis, Vera Farmiga, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Jovan Adepo, Jharrel Jerome and Felicity Huffman.
