New ‘Yu Yu Hakusho’ Episodes Get October Release Date

The last episode of Yu Yu Hakusho” premiered back in the early 90s and in the 20 plus years since fans’ love of the series has only grown stronger.

The show will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year and in honor of it, two new episodes will be released this fall. The episodes, “TWO SHOTS” and “Noruka Soruka”, are set to be included on the anime’s fourth Blu-ray box set which will hit shelves in Japan on October 26.

There is a chance to see the episodes early, however, as it has just been announced that there will be a special screening at the upcoming Anime Festival Tokyo 2018 on October 6th, with Crunchyroll preselling event tickets from August 11-26 and a general sale going live on September 8.

Based off the manga of the same name, Yu Yu Hakusho tells the story of teenage delinquent Yusuke Urameshi who ends up dying after being hit by a car while trying to save the life of a child. He is eventually revived by the son of the ruler of the underworld, given the title “Underworld Detective” and is tasked with different cases involving demons, apparitions and other supernatural elements in the human world. The show was incredibly popular when it was on and was even voted Best Anime of the Year in the 1994 and won the 1995 Animage Anime Grand Prix. The series was eventually dubbed in English and ran from February 23, 2002 to April 1, 2006 on Cartoon Network during it’s Adult Swim block before moving to Toonami.

Reprising their roles from the original series are director Noriyuki Abe, and voice actors Nozomu Sasaki as Yusuke Urameshi, Nobuyuki Hiyama as Hiei Shigeru Chiba as Kazuma Kuwabara, and Megumi Ogata as Kurama.
