While waiting for the highly anticipated Silver and Black film to move out of development, director Gina Prince-Bythewood is making sure there are no gaps in her resume as she has just signed on to direct Skydance’s adaptation of “The Old Guard”.

Published by Image Comics and from the minds of author Greg Rucka and artist Leandro Fernandez, “The Old Guard” revolves around a group of soldiers who can not seem to die. Lead by Andromache of Scythia (Andy for short), the group find themselves working as mercenaries who end up having to battle against a dangerous organization all while trying to keep their immortality a secret.

The film will be produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger and they currently aim for shooting to begin this fall so the film can be released in 2019.

This will not be Prince-Bythewood’s first foray into directing in the supernatural genre as she has directed episodes for the first season of Cloak and Dagger including its pilot. Prince-Bythewood was also the woman behind The Secret Life of Bees, Shots Fired and Beyond The Lights.
