Jharrel Jerome, Jovan Adepo & Felicity Huffman Join Cast of Ava DuVernay’s ‘Central Park Five’
As time goes on we’re getting more and more information about the upcoming Netflix miniseries, Central Park Five, including it’s three newest cast members: Felicity Huffman, Jovan Adepo, and Jharrel Jerome.
The Central Park Five was the name given to the black male teenagers who were wrongfully accused in the Central Park jogger case back in 1989. In 2002, the real perpetrator of the crime Matias Reyes, a convicted murderer and serial rapist who was already serving a life sentence, came forward and confessed. His confession was backed up by facts only the jogger’s attacker could give in addition to the fact that his DNA ended up being a match to evidence that had been left at the scene.

The five now adult men Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam, Korey Wise, Raymond Santana and Kevin Richardson had their convictions vacated and the following year they sued New York City for malicious prosecution, racial discrimination, and emotional distress. The series is set to span along the full timeline of the case, starting in 1989 and ending in 2014 when the case was finally settled.
Huffman is set to play head prosecutor Linda Fairstein, while Jerome and Adepo will play accused victims Korey Wise and Antron McCray respectively.
Previously announced cast members include Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga and John Leguizamo and production is set to start later this year.
