Niantic, the developer behind a little game called “Pokemon Go”, has decided to branch out into the AR gaming market and has tapped the people behind “Marvel: Strike Force”, Seismic Games to help them do it.

Virtual reality gaming is no stranger to Seismic as the company has already ventured into the VR world before with their contributions to “Blade Runner: Revelations” for Google Daydream.

Niantic confirmed in a statement that Seismic will continue to produce their own projects internally but will eventually make a full transition into creating AR games for the Niantic Real World Platform. Niantic wrote about acquiring Seismic on their offical blog and credited them for having “a significant accelerant for realizing our vision of an operating system that bridges the digital and the physical worlds.” The full blog post can be seen here.

The company’s most recent gaming escapes include lauching Matrix Mill back in June and Escher Reality in Feburary. Niantic has not yet stated on what we can expect to see in the future from this merger.

How do you feel about this new collaboration; are you excited for more real-world gaming like in “Pokemon Go”? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
