Finally, for the first time in years, a new monthly Shazam! series will grace the physical and digital store shelves of comic shops. Geoff Johns revealed the news during SDCC as he’ll write the ongoing series with art from Dale Eaglesham. This creative duo last worked together on a Justice Society of American run in 2007. Shazam!’s first issue arrives later this year on November 21.
Reintroducing the Shazam Family, which Johns and artist Gary Frank debuted during the New 52 relaunch, rests at the heart of the forthcoming monthly. Billy Batson’s foster siblings, Mary, Darla, Freddie, Pedro, and Eugene, at the time also received super powers. Based on the promo image DC shared on its Twitter page following Johns’ announcement, the same will be true for this run, as well. Check out the image below:

It’s fair to assume Shazam!’s new series is prompted by the live-action film starring Zachary Levi. The film just finished production and hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
