Dinosaurs, and dinosaurs and more dinosaurs, oh my! The long awaited sequel to the 2015 hit and the 5th installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was unleashed in theaters a little over 2 weeks ago and just crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide, giving Universal Studios their 7th film to reach such an achievement.

It was the No. 1 film overseas for four weekends straight and held the global spot of No. 1 for three weeks and was No. 1 in North America for two. Fallen Kingdom is the third 2018 film to pass 1 billion globally and the first non-Disney film to do so.

The Jurassic Park franchise is the 8th biggest franchise of all time currently sitting at $4.7 Billon and behind Fast and Furious (also owned by Universal) which currently sits at $5.1 Billion.

A third film has already been announced with a release date being set for June 11, 2021, and Trevorrow returning to direct. It is not yet known which stars will be returning as well.
