Toby Kebbell has been cast to join the Sony Pictures adaptation of Bloodshot. Kebbell will join Vin Diesel who is set to star as the lead alongside Eiza Gonzalez, Michael Sheen, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, and Alex Hernandez.

Created by Kevin van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton in 1992, Bloodshot had a 110 issue run. The comic book tells the story of a once mortally wounded soldier with powers of regeneration tasked with the mission of gathering “harbingers”, a group of superpowered individuals who have fallen out of favour with society and become outcasts.

No stranger to the comic book film genre, Kebbel played the nefarious Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four reboot and also had roles in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Kong: Skull Island. However, little is know about the character he may play in the Bloodshot adaptation.

Written by screenwriter Eric Heisserer who penned Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival and the thriller Lights Out, the film will be directed by Dave Wilson.

Set to start filming in July, the release date is yet to be announced.
