The Gifted‘s Emma Dumont has been cast to star as the eponymous lead in comic-book adaptation, Razor.
Everett Hartsoe’s comic follows Nicole Mitchell, a young woman who witnessed her fathers’ murder by a gang of criminals intent on stopping his investigation into their criminal organizations. She is not only reeling from the trauma of losing her father, but she loses her sister too. The trauma sends her to a sanitarium where she spends the next 10-years planning her revenge against those who destroyed her family. Nicole takes on the identity of Razor, a superheroine intent on eradicating evil from Chinatown. The name comes from the razors on her arms.
“Emma is a renaissance woman,” said director Cohen. “She’s a wonderful actress, a professional ballet dancer, and is currently getting her degree in Robotics Engineering. I have her training in Krav Maga and, believe me, there is nothing she can’t do.”
Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, XXX) is helming the adaptation, which could potentially lead to a franchise. The project has been in the works since 2009 by Archlight Films and Jeff Most Prods, the production company behind The Crow.
Dumont currently stars on Fox’s The Gifted and is set to return as Lorna Dane/Polaris for season 2, which debuts this fall.
