‘American Gods’ Star Yetide Badaki Launches IndieGoGo Campaign For Reimagining Of ‘Alice In Wonderland’
American Gods actress, Yetide Badaki, is looking to recreate Alice In Wonderland. The actress has recently launched an IndieGoGo fundraising campaign for a short film titled Wonderland. The project is set to be directed by Jessica Sherif and have Badaki work alongside, Karen David (Galavant, Once Upon a Time) and Dom Burgess (The Feud, The Magicians).
Written by Lewis Carroll in 1865 Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was the world’s introduction to the trippy and mystical world of Wonderland. A story which was later adapted onto screen in 1903. Since then, her story has transcended time and manifested in mystical and imaginative ways in books, theater and film, most notably and recently through Tim Burton’s series of films which starred Mia Wasikowska as Alice.

This adaptation will have the Hollywood film industry as its Wonderland. The film tells the story of an actress who gets called into an audition and “is thrown into a bizarre world where our rules don’t seem to apply”. The classic characters will exist however as different manifestations – the Queen is now a “cutthroat” casting director and a studio director as the Caterpillar.
Badaki, David and Sherif are also set to produce the project.
