After Microsoft’s E3 press conference, where a peek at Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed that showed us an atmosphere taken from Blade Runner, CD Projekt revealed, through the Cyberpunk website, the game will take place mostly in first-person mode.

It won’t be an entirely first person POV, as one will get to see their character during conversations and cut-scenes. The POV belongs to V, “a hired gun on the rise in Night City, the most violent and dangerous metropolis of the corporate-ruled future,” whose gender, appearance, class, and historical background you’ll be able to choose, influencing the “shape of the game.”

According to Kyle Rowley, the game’s associate design director, V will be their own person, rather than a blank slate for the player, like Geralt from The Witcher.

“For us, having someone who’s voiced and a named character allows us to build more interesting relationships, So V in a sense does have her own kind of personality, but you shape it as a player.”

During the game, V will have access to diverse options in many different scenarios, from violence to hacking to engineering finishing on driving. Her combat abilities will allow you to damage numbers of enemies à la Destiny or Borderlands, while also doing things like slow down time.
