A report from Variety confirms that The Punisher actor Jon Bernthal is in final negotiations to join the cast of the film Ford vs Ferrari. The film is being directed by James Mangold(Logan) who also co-wrote the project along with screenwriters Jason Keller and Jez Butterworth.

Ford Vs Ferrari is the film’s unofficial title and stars Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby, Christian Bale as Ken Miles and tells the true story of the battle between the automobile giants as they work to win Le Mans in 1966. Bernthal is set to play Lee Iacocca, the creative mind that speardheaded the development of the Ford Mustang which debuted in 1964 and became Ford’s most successful launch since Model A.

Bernthal is an acting powerhouse who has played a variety of roles that make him a welcomed addition to an already star-studded cast. This role might not see him relentlessly collecting bodies like he did in The Punisher or being a mentally unstable soldier like he beautifully portrayed in Fury but he no doubt will command the screen when the film is released. Are you a fan of Bernthal? Excited to see him in another role? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
