Jacobs played young Mike in Chapter OneMike’s role was significantly altered as he was meant to be the Losers’ clubs, resident historian, but that role was given to Ben. Director Andy Muschietti has spoken about how Mike’s role will be significant in Chapter Two. In the novel, Mike voluntarily stays in Derry as the others move away, and Muschietti revealed this would still be the case. He will still become the towns librarian and Derry/Pennywise expert, despite that role being given to Ben in the first film. Muschietti also intends on adding a darker layer to the character, one that wasn’t in the original novel by Stephen King. In the original story, Mike survives.

Mustafa is best known as the Old Spice guy and currently starring in Freeform’s Shadowhunters, which was recently cancelled after 3 seasons.

IT: Chapter 2 will begin production soon in Toronto.
