Yoson An Cast As Mulan’s Love Interest In Disney’s Live-Action Film

Disney’s live-action Mulan has found its love interest in the form of newcomer Yoson An (HBO Asia series Grace and the upcoming The Meg and Universal’s Mortal Engines), from New Zealand.

As previously reported, An won’t be playing Li Shang – who was the love interest in the animated film and the Chinese army captain – but rather a new character altogether named Chen Honghui, a confident and ambitious recruit who joins Commander Tung’s unit, who becomes Mulan’s most important ally and eventual love interest.

Directed by Niki Caro, the film is slated to start shooting around August in China and New Zealand.
