The casting is still in early stages and all parties involved are currently working on other projects – Miller is busy with the Fantastic Beasts sequel, Glover recording his voice for Simba as well as his music career and Atlanta and Gosling is busy filming First Man where he’s playing Neil Armstrong – so easy to say, no decision has been made.

Not much is known about the project, other than King is directing, David Heyman (Harry Potter) is producing and Simon Rich (Man Seeking Woman) is in charge of the script. However, it’s been rumoured that the story won’t be a reboot of the movies we’ve seen, rather more like a prequel that will explore Wonka’s origin story and probably, his encounter with the Oompa Loompas.

What do you think about this news? Which actor is your main pick to portray the eccentric candy maker?
