Julian Dennison Joins ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’

Up-and-coming New Zealand actor Julian Dennison has joined the cast for Warner Bros’ Godzilla vs. Kong. The film hits theaters on May 22, 2020. Adam Wingard will direct the picture.

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. are in the middle of building their monster universe centered on the classic silver screen monsters Godzilla and King Kong. The first installment for their Monsterverse was 2014’s Godzilla, followed by 2017’s Kong Skull: Island, with each grossing more than $500 million worldwide. A sequel to Godzilla, titled Godzilla: King of the Monsters, with Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. is currently in production. The film is directed by Michael Dougherty and is set for release on May 31, 2019. Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins will also be reprising their roles as Dr. Ishiro Serizawa and Dr. Vivienne Graham for the sequel.

Dennison started out by starring in two films while he was in primary school, Shopping in 2013 and Paper Planes in 2015.

Dennison later scored a role in an advertisement for the New Zealand Transport Agency to prevent driving under the influence of drugs, directed by Taika Waititi. This ad became an internet sensation in New Zealand and Australia, and Waititi later asked Dennison to take the role of Ricky Baker in Hunt for the Wilderpeople without having to audition. The film went on to become the highest grossing film of all time in New Zealand and became a hit around the globe.

Dennison then went on to play Russell Collins, aka Firefist, in Deadpool 2, receiving positive reviews for his performance.
