Bell Media Picks Up Bad Boys Spinoff, L.A.’s Finest
When one door closes, another opens. Such is the case for the Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba-starring Bad Boys spinoff series, L.A.’s Finest. Just last month, NBC passed on developing the series for its network. Now good news emerges as the Canadian network, Bell Media, has picked up the show from Sony Pictures Television Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Presently, Bell Media is in talks with Charter Communications to garner the series air times in the United States.

NBC’s dropping of the show remains an astonishing move. Franchise recognition and two stars in Union and Alba led many to believe NBC and L.A.’s Finest were the perfect match. However, speculation suggests that when the network’s former President of Entertainment, Jennifer Salke, departed for a role with Amazon Studios, the series lost its positioning on NBC’s radar. Reportedly, Salke is the executive responsible for L.A.’s Finest being purchased at all. Thus, the company’s parting ways with the series in her absence seems a less surprising decision.
