Chris Pratt Confirms that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Vol. 3 Filming Will Start Next Year

Even with Avengers: Infinity War still doing numbers in theaters, there is truly no rest for those wonderfully burdened with protecting the planet. It was announced a while back that The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise would be a trilogy and Star-Lord’s actor Chirs Pratt has confirmed that filming for the third film is set to begin in early 2019.

Pratt is currently doing press for Jurassic World 2 and when asked about what Star-Lord’s doing between Infinity War and Avengers 4, he told MTV, “You’ll know once you see part 2. I’m slated to film Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in January, so we don’t know yet time-wise where that lines up. I’m hoping it’s not the last you see of me but I can’t be sure.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will probably enter theaters in 2020 after Captain Marvel, the fourth Avengers movie, and the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel which are all set to be on released during the first half of 2019. Director and writer James Gunn has already said that the third GotG will be “very, very, very different,” but it’s unknown if he meant that in terms of tone, story or something else entirely.
