David Oyelowo and Angelina Jolie are in talks to star in the live-action directorial debut of Brave helmer, Brenda Chapman, called Come Away.
With a script penned by Marissa Kate Goodhill, Come Away is a fantasy film that is imagined as a prequel to both Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, but with a twist – in this retelling of the beloved fairy tales, Alice and Peter were siblings before he became Peter Pan. When their eldest brother dies, the brother and sister try to save their parents, who will be played by Oyelowo and Jolie.
In regards to the director, screenwriter Goodhill said, “Brenda is a singular storyteller. Her decades of experience in creating rich fantasy worlds populated by complex characters make her a dream director for this project, which explores how fantasy functions as a way to cope with reality. Her thoughtful approach to filmmaking and indomitable talent make her the perfect person to bring this story to life.”
Director, Brenda Chapman, had nothing but praise for her stars and said, “Angelina and David are going to bring a beautiful chemistry and depth to this magical story, giving audiences a wonderful step outside the expected.”
