Nintendo Officially Announces ‘Pokemon: Let’s Go!’

After months of speculation and rumors, Game Freak has just confirmed that Pokemon: Let’s Go! Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go! Eevee are real and coming to Switch consoles this year.

The game is a full, core RPG, though it won’t be a main line Pokemon game – however, Game Freak did announce that we’ll be getting a new main line installment in the second half of 2019.

In the Let’s Go! games, Pikachu or Eevee will be your companions, similar to Pokemon Yellow. They’re hybrids of Pokemon Go and a Pokemon RPG – players can Switch seamlessly between carrying their Pokemon on their consoles, on their phones, or on a new Pokeball peripheral that’s available in conjunction with the game. Players will be encouraged to take their Pokemon for walks, and there will be feedback from their chosen Pokemon as they do. Players can even join in local multiplayer to adventure together!

Catching also works just like Pokemon Go too – Pokeballs can be thrown out to a Pokemon, and it looks like battles won’t be a part of the game. Pokemon that have been caught in Pokemon Go can also be brought over to the Switch version – as long as they’re Kanto originals.

Game Freak released a trailer to accompany the news:
