‘Deadpool 2’ Breaks R-Rated Box Office Record for Thursday Previews with an Estimated $15M+
Deadpool 2 is officially in theaters today and with that comes major box office earnings. With last night’s previews, the R-rated film has already broken a box office record.
According to Deadline, the David Leitch directed comic book movie, pulled in an estimated $15 million-plus last night to set the new record for highest grossing R-rated film for Thursday previews.
Deadpool 2 ousted previous record holder, It, which made $13.5 million when it was released last September.
While box office totals are still being tallied, the estimate for the Thursday night preview showings of Deadpool 2 could rise anywhere from $16 million to $18 million. This number bests its predecessor which made $12.7 million in Thursday night previews back when it was released in 2016.
