Alfred Pennyworth Will Have His Own Series On EPIX

Batman wouldn’t be the man he is without Alfred Pennyworth, his loyal and trusted butler, and although the character’s past has always been some sort of “mystery”, this will soon change, as Epix is preparing a 10-episode, straight-to-series order titled Pennyworth.

The drama series will be set in 1960s London, when Alfred was working as a former British SAS soldier who later forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne – Bruce’s father –.

The series will be sailed from Warner Horizon Scripted Television, with executive producer/writer Bruno Heller and executive producer/director Danny Cannon in charge. Even though Heller and Cannon are the team behind Gotham, is important to notice that this series is in no way related to Gotham‘s universe.

In a statement, Michael Wright, President of EPIX, shared his excitement for what’s coming in the series.

“As genuine fans of these classic DC characters, as well as the incredibly talented Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, we couldn’t be more excited to make EPIX the home of this series. We can’t wait to work with Bruno and Danny—along with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner, Brett Paul and the team at Warner Horizon—on this fantastic origin story.”
