Simon Kinberg Hopes To Begin Production on ‘Gambit’ This Summer
The future of the X-Men franchise is somewhat in limbo as the new Disney/Fox deal looms over our heads. But that is not stopping the films that have already been in development from being released in the near future. One of those films is Gambit starring Channing Tatum.
Many people question why Tatum was chosen for such an iconic role and some even wonder why the character is getting his own movie but — it’s happening and there’s nothing our nerdy tears can do about it. While at the premiere for Deadpool 2, producer Simon Kinberg said that he hopes to start filming this summer. Check out his comment below;
“We have a script that we love — that Channing loves. We’ve met with a bunch of directors in the last couple of weeks and we’re hoping to actually pick one in the next couple of weeks and shoot the movie maybe end of this Summer.”
Despite losing two directors in the past two years and some production setbacks, the creative minds behind this film seem to really believe in the story and the character enough to continue on. Plus, the success of recent solo films featuring iconic mutant charatcers, Logan and Deadpool, might be evidence enough to give the naysayers hope that this film will be worth the wait.
