CBS Orders Sitcoms Led By Damon Wayans Jr., Cedric the Entertainer
CBS has ordered two new comedies each led by a Cedric The Entertainer and Damon Wayans Jr set to premiere in the 2018 – 2019 season on the network. Suggestively as a result of the criticism and lack of diversity in relation to leading characters portrayed by individuals of color, this announced series signifies the network’s first series order from the pilots set to launch.
On the project as the executive producer alongside Eric Rhone, Cedric The Entertainer’s new series “Welcome to the Neighborhood” formerly titled “Here Comes the Neighborhood,” is described as a story about “the nicest guy in the Midwest, who moves his family into a tough neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness”. Written by Jim Reynolds starring Josh Lawson, Sheaun McKinney, Tichina Arnold, Dreama Walker, Marcel Spears, Hank Greenspan, the pilot is set to be directed by legend James Burrows (Friends).
The Wayans Jr. series yet to be titled will have the star acting alongside Amber Stevens West, Felix Mallard, Stephnie Weir, and Chris Parnell. The story will follow “a 30-something couple, tired of their mundane life, who start to reconnect with their younger, cooler selves when a young pop star who is drawn to their super normal suburban life, moves in.”

A pretense said to be inspired by a time when executive producers Ben Winston and Harry Styles lived together, however, the creative license has been undertaken and the series is not based on any real-life experiences or characters.
